The use of technology to facilitate communication between two or more people has become increasingly popular in recent years. Nowadays, an ever-growing number of people are embracing the idea of utilizing tech to stay in contact with one another. The BYD SEAL sedan and BYD DOLPHIN hatchback have both been awarded five stars for safety by Euro NCAP, a highly esteemed independent safety evaluation program. The BYD SEAL demonstrated its exceptional active and passive safety features and the advantages of its CTB (Cell to Body) technology across the entire testing process. The BYD DOLPHIN also showed off its superb quality with top scores for adult and child occupant protection.
Euro NCAP has come up with a system of star rating to make it easier and simpler for customers, their families, and companies to evaluate cars. Both the BYD SEAL (D-segment sedan) and the BYD DOLPHIN (C-segment hatchback) have been bestowed with the 5-star accolade. Their rating was based on four criterion: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, safety assistance, and protection for vulnerable road users.
Accolades were given to BYD for their craftsmanship and technological advances.
For the best performance, BYD has put together its build quality and technology into the e-Platform 3.0. This is the world’s first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain, connecting all the electric control units and management systems, as well as the reliable Blade Battery which has gone through extensive testing. The ‘multi-load path’ structure of the BYD e-Platform 3.0 is able to absorb energy from impacts, thus reducing the risk of intrusion into the passenger cabin.
A cutting-edge approach known as Cell-to-Body technology is being developed.
The BYD SEAL has a heightened level of passenger safety due to its super-sportscar-like torsional rigidity of 40,500-N.m/degree. This was evident in the safety test, yielding an impressive 89% score for Adult Occupant protection. Furthermore, the Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology ensured that the passenger compartment remained intact in the frontal offset test, offering good protection for the driver and passenger. Additionally, good protection against whiplash injuries were provided. The eCall-system and the system that engages the brakes after an impact to avoid further collisions were also praised.
The BYD SEAL recently achieved a five-star rating in the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) safety tests.
Euro NCAP safety tests have resulted in a five-star rating for BYD SEAL.
Euro NCAP gave special recognition to the Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEB) due to its capability to alert against door opening if a cyclist is coming from behind. The Child Occupant protection tests obtained an 87% score, limiting the effects to the principal body parts of both child dummies in frontal and side barrier tests. Vulnerable Road Users, such as cyclists or pedestrians, are provided with a 82% level of protection.
The BYD DOLPHIN provides maximum safety results.
The BYD DOLPHIN obtained the highest rating from the Euro NCAP Safety Test thanks to the many safety and driver assistance components that are included as standard. It earned 89% for Adult Occupant protection, with Euro NCAP commending the car’s stability in the frontal offset test, which offers adequate protection for occupants of any size in any seating position. Its Child Occupant protection test yielded 87%, safeguarding all vital body parts of a six and ten-year-old dummy. Additionally, the front seats and head restraints successfully protected against whiplash in the case of a rear-end accident.

Euro NCAP gave a 79% score to the safety assist systems of the BYD DOLPHIN. These included the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Lane Keeping Assist systems which use cameras. The Autonomous Emergency Braking system (AEB) also garnered a high score of 85%, with testers commending its capacity to recognise pedestrians and cyclists.
Michael Shu, Managing Director of BYD Europe, expressed his enthusiasm by remarking that all BYD models have performed excellently in the stringent European safety tests. The BYD SEAL and the BYD DOLPHIN have joined the BYD ATTO 3 in receiving the highest safety test ratings, which is something to be proud of. This highlights the unwavering commitment BYD has in developing eco-friendly technology. Customers can be reassured that safety is always a top priority in their innovations.
